Wisconsin Residents: Access Safe Abortion Pill Care at CARE Clinic Colorado

Living in Wisconsin right now can feel challenging if you’re facing a pregnancy you can’t continue. Laws, politics, and uncertainty can make your choices feel smaller than they are. But the truth is: options exist, even if they’re not nearby.

At CARE Clinic Colorado in Pueblo, CO, we’re here to help patients from across the country, including Wisconsin, access safe, private abortion care when they need it most.

Is the Abortion Pill an Option for People in Wisconsin?

Although Wisconsin’s abortion laws have become more restrictive, safe and legal abortion care is still possible. Many people are choosing to travel out of state to places like Colorado, where abortion remains protected and accessible.

At CARE Clinic Colorado, we welcome patients seeking discreet, professional access to the abortion pill.

Understanding the Abortion Pill: How It Works

The term “abortion pill” refers to a medication abortion involving two prescription medicines:

  • Mifepristone, which stops pregnancy hormones from working
  • Misoprostol, which causes the uterus to contract and empty itself

This method is over 95% effective when used correctly. Physically, many people describe it as a very heavy period, with cramping, bleeding, and sometimes fatigue or nausea. Everyone’s experience is different, which is why professional guidance is so important.

At CARE Clinic Colorado, we help patients know what to expect and how to stay safe.

Why Travel from Wisconsin to Colorado for Abortion Care?

Patients from Wisconsin come to Colorado for several reasons:

  • Legal Protection: Colorado’s laws ensure abortion care remains available and protected.
  • Privacy: CARE Clinic Colorado prioritizes strict confidentiality.
  • Flexible Options: We offer the abortion pill in-clinic and, when legally possible, via mail after a medical evaluation.
  • Compassionate Care: Our team provides medical support without judgment or political pressure.

For many, traveling to a trusted clinic brings peace of mind that local care sometimes cannot.

Is Traveling from Wisconsin Realistic?

Colorado may look far from Wisconsin on a map, but the journey can be manageable.

Travel by Air

  • Cities like Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay offer flights to Denver International Airport.
  • From Denver, Pueblo is about a two-hour drive south.

Travel by Car

  • Highways like I-90 and I-80 head west and eventually connect into Colorado.
  • Some patients choose driving for privacy and flexibility, despite the distance.

At CARE Clinic Colorado, we help patients plan their travel so the process feels less overwhelming.

Abortion Pill FAQ

Offered up to 11 weeks

When taken in the first trimester, the abortion pill is 94-98% effective.

If you are taking the abortion pill, some minor side effects may set in after taking the second pill. These side effects may include bleeding, cramping, and nausea.

The cramping happens because the second pill causes your uterus to contract, which is the source of these cramping pains. You can treat these cramping pains in the same way you would with your usual menstrual cramps. For bleeding, it can vary from patient to patient. You may also pass clots with the bleeding. This bleeding is normal as long as you don’t use more than two menstrual pads.

Your symptoms should start to subside 24 hours after taking the second pill.

The abortion pill is very safe, with less than 1% of patients having serious complications.

One reason that patients choose the abortion pill is because it is not invasive. In 98% of patients, there is no surgical procedures necessary. We look to avoid surgical procedures by using the abortion pill, as less surgery means less risk.

The abortion pill does come with cramping and bleeding. The bleeding is usually heavier than a regular period, and the cramping can be moderate to heavy. Most patients find this to be tolerable, but if you do not we will be here to help.

Like any medical procedure, there are some risks. However, complications are very rare. These risks include infection, blood loss, and incomplete pregnancy termination. We will monitor you to ensure that you are safe, and in our follow up appointment we’ll check again.

There is no scientific evidence that the abortion pill can be reversed, so you should be 100% sure you want to go through with it before you take the first pill. We will never pressure you into a choice you don’t want to make, we are here to support you and make sure you have all the information you need for an informed choice.

There is a very low chance of this happening, but if it does, we’ll follow up with a surgical abortion to complete the termination of the pregnancy.
