Woman Taking The Abortion Pill

From North Dakota? Discover Safe Abortion Pill Care at CARE Clinic Colorado

If you’re living in North Dakota, you probably know how complicated reproductive healthcare has become. One day the rules seem one way, and the next, they’re flipped upside down. It’s frustrating. It’s confusing. And it shouldn’t be this hard.

At CARE Clinic Colorado in Pueblo, CO, we believe your health care should belong to you—not the political winds. We’re here to help patients traveling from states like North Dakota find safe, private access to the abortion pill, without judgment, pressure, or fear.

What Is the Abortion Pill, and Is It Right for You?

Let’s keep it simple. The abortion pill actually involves two medicines that work together:

  • Mifepristone blocks the hormones that support pregnancy.
  • Misoprostol causes the uterus to contract and empty itself.

Taken up to 11 weeks into pregnancy, it’s over 95% effective when used as directed. For many, it feels like a heavy period with cramping, bleeding, and sometimes nausea. Everyone’s body reacts differently, that’s why medical guidance matters.

And while it’s medically safe, it’s not something to face alone. Our team is here to explain every detail and help you prepare for what to expect, both physically and emotionally.

Why Patients from North Dakota Choose CARE Clinic Colorado

You might wonder: Why travel all the way to Colorado? Here’s why some North Dakotans choose us:

  • Legal Safety: Colorado’s laws protect your right to abortion care.
  • Privacy: Your information stays private, always.
  • No Politics, Just Care: We’re not here to judge. We’re here to help.

We also offer the abortion pill through mail where legally possible, or in-clinic if that’s your choice. Either way, you’re in good hands.

Getting Here from North Dakota: Simpler Than You’d Think

We get it, travel sounds daunting. But many patients from North Dakota have made the trip and found it manageable.

  • Flights: Cities like Fargo, Bismarck, or Minot offer flights into Denver International Airport. From Denver, Pueblo is just a drive away.
  • Driving: Some patients prefer hitting the road. Highways like I-94 connect North Dakota into Montana and down toward Colorado. It’s a long haul, but for some, privacy and control make it worthwhile.

Our staff can help you think through travel plans. And while the distance might feel intimidating, knowing there’s a safe destination waiting can bring peace of mind.

Abortion Pill FAQ

Offered up to 11 weeks

When taken in the first trimester, the abortion pill is 94-98% effective.

If you are taking the abortion pill, some minor side effects may set in after taking the second pill. These side effects may include bleeding, cramping, and nausea.

The cramping happens because the second pill causes your uterus to contract, which is the source of these cramping pains. You can treat these cramping pains in the same way you would with your usual menstrual cramps. For bleeding, it can vary from patient to patient. You may also pass clots with the bleeding. This bleeding is normal as long as you don’t use more than two menstrual pads.

Your symptoms should start to subside 24 hours after taking the second pill.

The abortion pill is very safe, with less than 1% of patients having serious complications.

One reason that patients choose the abortion pill is because it is not invasive. In 98% of patients, there is no surgical procedures necessary. We look to avoid surgical procedures by using the abortion pill, as less surgery means less risk.

The abortion pill does come with cramping and bleeding. The bleeding is usually heavier than a regular period, and the cramping can be moderate to heavy. Most patients find this to be tolerable, but if you do not we will be here to help.

Like any medical procedure, there are some risks. However, complications are very rare. These risks include infection, blood loss, and incomplete pregnancy termination. We will monitor you to ensure that you are safe, and in our follow up appointment we’ll check again.

There is no scientific evidence that the abortion pill can be reversed, so you should be 100% sure you want to go through with it before you take the first pill. We will never pressure you into a choice you don’t want to make, we are here to support you and make sure you have all the information you need for an informed choice.

There is a very low chance of this happening, but if it does, we’ll follow up with a surgical abortion to complete the termination of the pregnancy.
