Compassionate Abortion Care for Pregnancies with Fetal Indication in Colorado

Some moments in life carve a line between “before” and “after.” If you’re facing a pregnancy with a fetal indication, that line can feel painfully sharp. You might be grappling with shock, heartbreak, or questions that seem impossible to answer.

At CARE Clinic Colorado, we’re here to help you navigate this storm. Based in Pueblo and serving patients from all across the state, we offer specialized, compassionate abortion care for pregnancies complicated by a fetal indication with respect, privacy, and the expertise you deserve.

What Does “Fetal Indication” Mean?

So, let’s get real for a moment. A fetal indication is any serious medical diagnosis affecting the fetus, often uncovered through ultrasounds, genetic testing, or prenatal screenings. It might mean a severe structural anomaly, a genetic condition with little chance of survival, or a diagnosis incompatible with life outside the womb.

These aren’t easy conversations. They come tangled in grief, confusion, and sometimes guilt, even though none of this is your fault. Parents often hope for miracles while wrestling with medical facts that keep crashing in like waves.

You know what? It’s normal to feel torn between love for the baby you imagined and the painful reality of what’s been discovered. No two families think, feel, or decide exactly the same way. And that’s okay.

Your Choices at CARE Clinic Colorado

If you’re considering ending your pregnancy for a fetal indication, CARE Clinic Colorado provides safe, expert care. Let’s go through your options together:

Abortion Pill (Medical Abortion)

Up to 11.6 weeks gestation, you might choose a medication process you can complete at home. Some patients prefer the privacy and comfort of their own space, and we’re one of the few clinics offering this both in-person and by mail.

Vacuum Aspiration (In-Clinic Procedure)

Between 11.6 and 18.6 weeks, we perform vacuum aspiration in our clinic. It’s a gentle surgical option, usually done with local anesthesia. Many patients find it quick and manageable, though every body is different.

Surgical Abortion (D&E)

For pregnancies over 18.6 weeks, surgical abortion (Dilation and Evacuation) becomes necessary. This procedure sounds daunting to some, but our team’s skill and care make all the difference. Patients frequently tell us how relieved they felt once they were here in person, speaking with professionals who truly listened.

Is it easy? No. But your medical options should be explained clearly, with respect and empathy. You deserve support, no matter your path.

Right Here in CO, Keeping It Local and Safe

Let’s talk logistics, because they matter when your world’s upside down. Traveling out of state piles on expenses and uncertainty. Hotel rooms, unfamiliar highways, legal worries, none of that helps when you’re already navigating a pregnancy complicated by a fetal indication.

That’s why so many patients breathe easier knowing CARE Clinic Colorado is located right here in Pueblo, CO. Whether you’re coming from Denver, Colorado Springs, or smaller mountain towns, we’re reachable by car. Staying in-state protects your privacy and keeps things legally straightforward.

When you’re facing medical decisions tied to a fetal indication, staying closer to home can make an overwhelming situation feel just a bit more manageable.

Why Choose CARE Clinic Colorado?

Here’s the truth: not every clinic is prepared for the emotional and medical layers involved in a pregnancy affected by a fetal indication.

Our team combines medical expertise with trauma-informed care. We’re used to sitting with people in the hardest conversations of their lives. We talk you through what to expect medically, financially, and emotionally. Patients often say they felt genuinely seen here, like they were more than a chart number.

And yes, we understand that privacy matters. Everything stays confidential. We’re committed to making sure you have the information, resources, and emotional support you need, without judgment or pressure.

A diagnosis of fetal indication is a moment that changes everything. At CARE Clinic Colorado, we believe you deserve compassionate, specialized abortion care, close to home and delivered with respect.

Abortion Pill FAQ

Offered up to 11.6 weeks

When taken in the first trimester, the abortion pill is 94-98% effective.

If you are taking the abortion pill, some minor side effects may set in after taking the second pill. These side effects may include bleeding, cramping, and nausea.

The cramping happens because the second pill causes your uterus to contract, which is the source of these cramping pains. You can treat these cramping pains in the same way you would with your usual menstrual cramps. For bleeding, it can vary from patient to patient. You may also pass clots with the bleeding. This bleeding is normal as long as you don’t use more than two menstrual pads.

Your symptoms should start to subside 24 hours after taking the second pill.

The abortion pill is very safe, with less than 1% of patients having serious complications.

One reason that patients choose the abortion pill is because it is not invasive. In 98% of patients, there is no surgical procedures necessary. We look to avoid surgical procedures by using the abortion pill, as less surgery means less risk.

The abortion pill does come with cramping and bleeding. The bleeding is usually heavier than a regular period, and the cramping can be moderate to heavy. Most patients find this to be tolerable, but if you do not we will be here to help.

Like any medical procedure, there are some risks. However, complications are very rare. These risks include infection, blood loss, and incomplete pregnancy termination. We will monitor you to ensure that you are safe, and in our follow up appointment we’ll check again.

There is no scientific evidence that the abortion pill can be reversed, so you should be 100% sure you want to go through with it before you take the first pill. We will never pressure you into a choice you don’t want to make, we are here to support you and make sure you have all the information you need for an informed choice.

There is a very low chance of this happening, but if it does, we’ll follow up with a surgical abortion to complete the termination of the pregnancy.
