Compassionate Abortion Care for Patients Traveling from Oklahoma with Fetal Anomaly

When Your Pregnancy Shows a Fetal Anomaly… You Deserve Options and Support

It’s the kind of news nobody ever imagines getting. A routine ultrasound, a doctor’s worried tone, then a diagnosis you can barely pronounce. Suddenly, words like fetal anomaly feel painfully personal.

And you’re left thinking… What now?

At CARE Clinic Colorado, we understand how overwhelming this can be. Decisions surrounding fetal anomaly are rarely simple, they’re wrapped in medical facts, personal values, and so many emotions. If you’re seeking compassionate abortion services for fetal anomaly, know that you’re not alone. And you deserve care that honors both your physical health and your emotional well-being.

Why CARE Clinic Colorado? Here’s the Thing…

We’re not just another clinic. We’re a team that’s helped countless patients navigate the complex reality of fetal anomaly. And we do it with respect, sensitivity, and clinical precision.

Our clinic is located in Pueblo, CO, serving patients traveling from Colorado. Whether you’re coming by car along I-25 or flying into Colorado Springs or Denver airports, getting to us is straightforward and faster than many expect when traveling from Oklahoma.

You know what? A lot of our patients say they find comfort in leaving their local area, if only for privacy and a fresh perspective.

Let’s Talk About Fetal Anomaly, Because Knowledge Matters

Fetal anomaly covers a broad range of conditions, from genetic syndromes to structural abnormalities visible on imaging. Sometimes the prognosis is uncertain; other times, it’s heartbreakingly clear.

It’s common to feel like the ground’s been ripped out from under you. But understanding your options can help you feel steadier.

We’ve seen patients facing anomalies like anencephaly, trisomy 18, severe cardiac defects, and other diagnoses incompatible with life or long-term health. The medical details vary, but the emotional weight often feels similar. And that’s why specialized care matters, to help you manage both the medical decisions and the human side of this journey.

Abortion Services We Provide And What They Mean for You

Not all clinics offer a full spectrum of abortion services for fetal anomaly. We do, because we believe you deserve every safe option available.

Here’s how we can help patients coming from OK:

Abortion Pill (Medical Abortion) – Up to 11.6 Weeks

You can take the abortion pill in our clinic or, if medically appropriate, we can mail it to you. Some patients prefer the privacy of being at home; others want our staff nearby. It’s entirely your choice.

Vacuum Aspiration – Up to 18.6 Weeks

A gentle, outpatient procedure done right here in our Pueblo clinic. Many patients appreciate how quick the process is, typically under 10 minutes, and how it can offer closure sooner.

Surgical Abortion – After 18.6 Weeks

For pregnancies further along or involving significant fetal anomalies, surgical abortion may be necessary. Our experienced physicians handle these procedures with utmost care and discretion. We use specialized techniques to ensure safety and minimize discomfort.

We know medical terms can feel cold, especially during an emotional time. But here’s the thing: we’re committed to explaining everything in plain language and helping you make the decision that feels right for you.

Getting to Pueblo, CO from OK, Closer Than You Might Think

Some folks imagine traveling out of town for abortion care means long, complicated trips. But getting to Pueblo is surprisingly easy.

By Car: Major highways like I-25 connect Pueblo to Colorado Springs, Denver, and other Colorado cities.

By Air: Colorado Springs Airport is about 45 minutes away. Denver International Airport is around two hours, depending on traffic.

Many patients tell us that the short journey helps them feel a sense of separation from local pressures. A little privacy goes a long way.

You’re Not Alone, We’re Here Every Step of the Way

Facing a fetal anomaly can feel like your world is crashing down. And deciding about abortion adds even more layers to navigate. It’s heavy stuff, no question.

But you know what? You don’t have to go through it in silence. At CARE Clinic Colorado, we believe deeply in patient-centered care, combining medical expertise with the kind of human empathy that makes all the difference.

We’ll answer your questions, explain your options, and respect whatever choice you make. Whether you’re seeking an abortion pill by mail or a surgical procedure, we’ll guide you with compassion and clarity.

Call us today or send a confidential message. You deserve care that understands the weight of this moment and honors your right to decide what comes next.

Abortion Pill FAQ

Offered up to 11 weeks

When taken in the first trimester, the abortion pill is 94-98% effective.

If you are taking the abortion pill, some minor side effects may set in after taking the second pill. These side effects may include bleeding, cramping, and nausea.

The cramping happens because the second pill causes your uterus to contract, which is the source of these cramping pains. You can treat these cramping pains in the same way you would with your usual menstrual cramps. For bleeding, it can vary from patient to patient. You may also pass clots with the bleeding. This bleeding is normal as long as you don’t use more than two menstrual pads.

Your symptoms should start to subside 24 hours after taking the second pill.

The abortion pill is very safe, with less than 1% of patients having serious complications.

One reason that patients choose the abortion pill is because it is not invasive. In 98% of patients, there is no surgical procedures necessary. We look to avoid surgical procedures by using the abortion pill, as less surgery means less risk.

The abortion pill does come with cramping and bleeding. The bleeding is usually heavier than a regular period, and the cramping can be moderate to heavy. Most patients find this to be tolerable, but if you do not we will be here to help.

Like any medical procedure, there are some risks. However, complications are very rare. These risks include infection, blood loss, and incomplete pregnancy termination. We will monitor you to ensure that you are safe, and in our follow up appointment we’ll check again.

There is no scientific evidence that the abortion pill can be reversed, so you should be 100% sure you want to go through with it before you take the first pill. We will never pressure you into a choice you don’t want to make, we are here to support you and make sure you have all the information you need for an informed choice.

There is a very low chance of this happening, but if it does, we’ll follow up with a surgical abortion to complete the termination of the pregnancy.

Surgical Abortions Information

Offered after 18.6 weeks

Surgical abortions have a very low rate of complications. However, they are a surgery and use anesthesia. As with any surgery or procedure that uses anesthesia, there is always a risk of complications like bleeding or infection. These risks are why we perform blood work and have you visit beforehand so that we catch anything that might increase the chance of complications.

This depends on your individual health. For some higher risk patients, you will receive IV sedation (Twilight Sedation). For lower risk patients, you will receive local anesthesia, sometimes combined with a mild sedative.

There is no scientific evidence that states having a surgical abortion will affect your ability to get pregnant in the future.

We highly recommend having a follow up appointment a few weeks later, which your doctor will schedule with you. This appointment serves as a check-in. We will make sure that you are healthy and without complications, as well as ensure that the pregnancy has been terminated.

Vacuum Aspiration Information

Offered up to 18.6 weeks

Vacuum aspiration has a success rate of 99-100%

Vacuum aspiration is very safe, with a complication rate of less than 1%.

Vacuum aspirations are performed up to 18.6 weeks after your last regular period in CO. This is when they are safest and most effective.

Vacuum aspirations are performed up to 18.6 weeks in CO after your last regular period. This is when they are safest and most effective.

You will likely experience cramping during the procedure, which is a short procedure. Once it’s over, your cramping will likely subside. Some patients report off and on cramping in the next few days, but most do not.

The procedure itself is quick, lasting only up to 5 minutes. Afterward, we’ll need you to spend about 30 minutes in the recovery room to monitor you before you’re welcome to leave.
