Considering the Abortion Pill? We’re Here for Patients from Florida and Beyond

When life hands you complicated choices, you deserve clear answers and compassionate care. CARE Clinic Colorado, located in Pueblo, CO, is committed to serving people from every walk of life, including folks traveling from states like Florida where abortion rights may be more restricted. You know what? Your zip code shouldn’t decide your health care.

Why Travel to CARE Clinic Colorado for the Abortion Pill?

Here’s the thing, laws can change fast, but your right to safe medical care shouldn’t feel out of reach. That’s why many patients from Florida and other restrictive states turn to us for the abortion pill, available both in-clinic and by mail up to 11 weeks of pregnancy.

We believe in privacy, dignity, and freedom of choice. No judgment. No unnecessary hurdles. Just straightforward, professional care from a team who knows this terrain inside and out.

Plus, medication abortion is discreet and effective, offering you control over your own timeline and comfort. It’s medical science and personal autonomy working hand in hand.

Getting Here is Easier Than You Might Think

Pueblo, Colorado, might sound like a faraway dot on the map, but honestly, it’s more accessible than you’d guess. Whether you’re hopping a flight or making a road trip, patients from Florida have options:

  • Flights: Pueblo is near Colorado Springs Airport and Denver International Airport. Flights from major Florida cities like Orlando, Tampa, or Miami often have multiple daily routes.
  • Driving: Some folks prefer driving, it’s a long haul from Florida, sure, but if privacy matters most, the open road can feel safer than an airport line.

Either way, we’ll help guide you through travel logistics. Our staff has helped many patients coordinate visits with minimal hassle.

The Abortion Pill: What’s It All About?

Let me explain it plainly. The abortion pill is actually a two-medication process:

  • Mifepristone blocks the hormone progesterone, which sustains pregnancy.
  • Misoprostol causes the uterus to contract and expel its contents.

This method is FDA-approved and highly effective up to 11 weeks. For many, it feels more private and manageable than an in-clinic procedure. Think of it like managing a miscarriage at home, it can involve cramping and bleeding, sometimes heavy, but it’s typically safe and predictable under medical guidance.

Still, it’s not something to figure out alone. Our medical team will discuss your health history, symptoms to watch for, and what’s normal versus what needs a doctor’s attention. It’s confidential, thorough, and tailored to you.

Abortion Pill FAQ

Offered up to 11 weeks

When taken in the first trimester, the abortion pill is 94-98% effective.

If you are taking the abortion pill, some minor side effects may set in after taking the second pill. These side effects may include bleeding, cramping, and nausea.

The cramping happens because the second pill causes your uterus to contract, which is the source of these cramping pains. You can treat these cramping pains in the same way you would with your usual menstrual cramps. For bleeding, it can vary from patient to patient. You may also pass clots with the bleeding. This bleeding is normal as long as you don’t use more than two menstrual pads.

Your symptoms should start to subside 24 hours after taking the second pill.

The abortion pill is very safe, with less than 1% of patients having serious complications.

One reason that patients choose the abortion pill is because it is not invasive. In 98% of patients, there is no surgical procedures necessary. We look to avoid surgical procedures by using the abortion pill, as less surgery means less risk.

The abortion pill does come with cramping and bleeding. The bleeding is usually heavier than a regular period, and the cramping can be moderate to heavy. Most patients find this to be tolerable, but if you do not we will be here to help.

Like any medical procedure, there are some risks. However, complications are very rare. These risks include infection, blood loss, and incomplete pregnancy termination. We will monitor you to ensure that you are safe, and in our follow up appointment we’ll check again.

There is no scientific evidence that the abortion pill can be reversed, so you should be 100% sure you want to go through with it before you take the first pill. We will never pressure you into a choice you don’t want to make, we are here to support you and make sure you have all the information you need for an informed choice.

There is a very low chance of this happening, but if it does, we’ll follow up with a surgical abortion to complete the termination of the pregnancy.
