Woman Talking to Doctor About Abortion Options

Compassionate Abortion Care for Patients from Wisconsin | CARE Clinic Colorado

Sometimes, life throws curveballs you never saw coming. If you’re living in Wisconsin and searching for safe, compassionate abortion care, it can feel like you’re caught between impossible choices. You know what? You’re not alone. And you deserve care that respects you, no matter where you call home.

At CARE Clinic Colorado, we’re here for patients traveling from anywhere, including Wisconsin, who need abortion services without judgment or fear. Let me explain why so many folks make the journey to Pueblo, CO, for the care they deserve.

Wondering Why Folks Are Leaving Wisconsin for Abortion Care?

It’s no secret that abortion laws in Wisconsin have become confusing and restrictive. Patients often face legal uncertainty, clinic closures, and shifting policies that leave them anxious and frustrated. And while some people can wait, others simply can’t. Health, personal circumstances, or timing might demand quicker care.

But here’s the thing: traveling for abortion care doesn’t mean you’re alone. Far from it. Many people from Wisconsin are coming to CARE Clinic Colorado because they want trusted providers who prioritize privacy, kindness, and clinical excellence. When the stakes are high, peace of mind matters.

So, Who Are We at CARE Clinic Colorado?

Picture a warm, welcoming clinic in the heart of Pueblo, Colorado. That’s us. We’re not located in Wisconsin, but we proudly serve patients traveling from Wisconsin and other states where abortion access has become complicated or restricted.

At CARE Clinic Colorado, we offer:

  • Abortion pill (medication abortion) in-clinic or by mail up to 11 weeks gestation
  • Vacuum aspiration up to 18.6 weeks gestation
  • Surgical abortion for pregnancies beyond 18.6 weeks gestation

We combine professional medical care with genuine compassion. It’s not just about procedures, it’s about ensuring you feel heard, respected, and supported. Because choosing an abortion is deeply personal, and nobody should have to navigate it feeling isolated.

How Easy Is It to Get Here from Wisconsin?

Pretty straightforward, actually.

Whether you’re traveling by plane or car, Pueblo, Colorado, is quite accessible from Wisconsin. For many patients, flying is the quicker option. You’d likely fly into Denver International Airport (DEN), a major hub served by airlines like Southwest, United, and Delta. From there, Pueblo is about a two-hour drive south. Rental cars are plentiful, and the highways are well-maintained.

Prefer driving the whole way? Some folks do. From cities like Milwaukee or Madison, it’s roughly 15 to 17 hours on the road, depending on your starting point. While it’s a long haul, it’s manageable for those who prefer privacy or want to avoid airports.

Either way, our staff can help talk through travel logistics and nearby accommodations. You’d be surprised how many people mention how smooth the trip felt once they arrived.

Let’s Talk About Your Options

Every pregnancy and every situation is unique. That’s why we offer multiple options:

The Abortion Pill (Medication Abortion)

  • Available in-clinic or shipped discreetly by mail for pregnancies up to 11 weeks
  • Involves taking mifepristone followed by misoprostol
  • Many describe it as similar to a heavy period

Curious how it feels or what recovery looks like? We’re happy to answer every question, no question is too small.

Vacuum Aspiration (Up to 18.6 Weeks)

This gentle procedure uses suction to empty the uterus. It’s performed in-clinic and typically takes only a few minutes. Many patients are surprised how quick and simple it is, and you’ll be cared for every step of the way.

Surgical Abortion (Beyond 18.6 Weeks)

For pregnancies further along, surgical abortion may be the safest choice. Our experienced team ensures comfort and privacy while prioritizing your health. It’s a longer visit but allows thorough care and support for your physical and emotional needs.

Privacy, Safety, and Respect, Always

Let’s be real: traveling for abortion care can feel daunting. It’s normal to worry about privacy or wonder how safe it is crossing state lines. Here at CARE Clinic Colorado, we fiercely protect your confidentiality. From discreet mail services to private in-clinic appointments, your safety and dignity come first.

Plus, Colorado law protects abortion access without the same restrictions you’d face back home. That legal protection can bring enormous relief for many who’ve faced uncertainty in Wisconsin.

Abortion Pill FAQ

Offered up to 11 weeks

When taken in the first trimester, the abortion pill is 94-98% effective.

If you are taking the abortion pill, some minor side effects may set in after taking the second pill. These side effects may include bleeding, cramping, and nausea.

The cramping happens because the second pill causes your uterus to contract, which is the source of these cramping pains. You can treat these cramping pains in the same way you would with your usual menstrual cramps. For bleeding, it can vary from patient to patient. You may also pass clots with the bleeding. This bleeding is normal as long as you don’t use more than two menstrual pads.

Your symptoms should start to subside 24 hours after taking the second pill.

The abortion pill is very safe, with less than 1% of patients having serious complications.

One reason that patients choose the abortion pill is because it is not invasive. In 98% of patients, there is no surgical procedures necessary. We look to avoid surgical procedures by using the abortion pill, as less surgery means less risk.

The abortion pill does come with cramping and bleeding. The bleeding is usually heavier than a regular period, and the cramping can be moderate to heavy. Most patients find this to be tolerable, but if you do not we will be here to help.

Like any medical procedure, there are some risks. However, complications are very rare. These risks include infection, blood loss, and incomplete pregnancy termination. We will monitor you to ensure that you are safe, and in our follow up appointment we’ll check again.

There is no scientific evidence that the abortion pill can be reversed, so you should be 100% sure you want to go through with it before you take the first pill. We will never pressure you into a choice you don’t want to make, we are here to support you and make sure you have all the information you need for an informed choice.

There is a very low chance of this happening, but if it does, we’ll follow up with a surgical abortion to complete the termination of the pregnancy.

Surgical Abortions Information

Offered after 18.6 weeks

Surgical abortions have a very low rate of complications. However, they are a surgery and use anesthesia. As with any surgery or procedure that uses anesthesia, there is always a risk of complications like bleeding or infection. These risks are why we perform blood work and have you visit beforehand so that we catch anything that might increase the chance of complications.

This depends on your individual health. For some higher risk patients, you will receive IV sedation (Twilight Sedation). For lower risk patients, you will receive local anesthesia, sometimes combined with a mild sedative.

There is no scientific evidence that states having a surgical abortion will affect your ability to get pregnant in the future.

We highly recommend having a follow up appointment a few weeks later, which your doctor will schedule with you. This appointment serves as a check-in. We will make sure that you are healthy and without complications, as well as ensure that the pregnancy has been terminated.

Vacuum Aspiration Information

Offered up to 18.6 weeks

Vacuum aspiration has a success rate of 99-100%

Vacuum aspiration is very safe, with a complication rate of less than 1%.

Vacuum aspirations are performed up to 18.6 weeks after your last regular period in CO. This is when they are safest and most effective.

You will likely experience cramping during the procedure, which is a short procedure. Once it’s over, your cramping will likely subside. Some patients report off and on cramping in the next few days, but most do not.

The procedure itself is quick, lasting only up to 5 minutes. Afterward, we’ll need you to spend about 30 minutes in the recovery room to monitor you before you’re welcome to leave.
