Compassionate, Safe Abortion Care Beyond 20.6 Weeks Right Here in Colorado

When you’re searching for late term abortion care, it’s not just about the procedure. It’s about safety, support, and knowing you’re in capable hands. At CARE Clinic Colorado, we provide surgical abortion services after 20.6 weeks of pregnancy, all from our clinic located in Pueblo, CO. We serve patients across the state, including those traveling from Redlands, CO and surrounding areas. And yes, it’s closer than you might think. A straightforward drive, no flights or border-crossing stress.

So, what does “late term abortion” actually mean?

The reasons are never simple, and that’s exactly why compassion matters. Some patients learn about fetal anomalies that couldn’t be detected earlier. Others face serious health risks or unexpected life changes. No one sets out planning for this, and we know that.

If you’re navigating a situation that feels impossibly complex, you’re not alone. Our team listens, explains, and helps you understand all your options. We don’t make assumptions. We make space.

The CARE Clinic Approach: Professional, Private, and Personal

Here’s the thing, privacy and dignity aren’t bonuses. They’re essential. From the moment you reach out, our staff offers straightforward, judgment-free care. We handle the entire process on-site, so there’s no need to bounce between hospitals or specialists. You’ll work with the same trusted team throughout your care.

Our providers specialize in second and third trimester abortion care. That includes pain management, sedation options, and emotional support tailored to your needs.

Need to travel from Redlands, CO? We’ll help you plan it. Our Pueblo clinic is easily accessible by car, and we can assist with nearby lodging recommendations, appointment timing, and travel-friendly scheduling.

What to Expect During the Procedure

We won’t sugarcoat it, but we won’t leave you in the dark either. Here’s a basic breakdown:

  • Day 1: You’ll meet your provider, review your ultrasound and medical history, and begin cervical dilation (often with laminaria). This step preps your body for a safer procedure.
  • Day 2 (if needed): Your physician will complete the surgical abortion using a combination of dilation and evacuation (D&E) and gentle vacuum aspiration. We use the most current, evidence-based techniques for comfort and safety.

You’ll recover in a private room and go home with clear aftercare instructions. And if you’re worried about the emotional side of things? That’s normal. We offer follow-up counseling and phone support too.

Abortion Pill FAQ

Offered up to 11.6 weeks

When taken in the first trimester, the abortion pill is 94-98% effective.

If you are taking the abortion pill, some minor side effects may set in after taking the second pill. These side effects may include bleeding, cramping, and nausea.

The cramping happens because the second pill causes your uterus to contract, which is the source of these cramping pains. You can treat these cramping pains in the same way you would with your usual menstrual cramps. For bleeding, it can vary from patient to patient. You may also pass clots with the bleeding. This bleeding is normal as long as you don’t use more than two menstrual pads.

Your symptoms should start to subside 24 hours after taking the second pill.

The abortion pill is very safe, with less than 1% of patients having serious complications.

One reason that patients choose the abortion pill is because it is not invasive. In 98% of patients, there is no surgical procedures necessary. We look to avoid surgical procedures by using the abortion pill, as less surgery means less risk.

The abortion pill does come with cramping and bleeding. The bleeding is usually heavier than a regular period, and the cramping can be moderate to heavy. Most patients find this to be tolerable, but if you do not we will be here to help.

Like any medical procedure, there are some risks. However, complications are very rare. These risks include infection, blood loss, and incomplete pregnancy termination. We will monitor you to ensure that you are safe, and in our follow up appointment we’ll check again.

There is no scientific evidence that the abortion pill can be reversed, so you should be 100% sure you want to go through with it before you take the first pill. We will never pressure you into a choice you don’t want to make, we are here to support you and make sure you have all the information you need for an informed choice.

There is a very low chance of this happening, but if it does, we’ll follow up with a surgical abortion to complete the termination of the pregnancy.
