Woman Taking The Abortion Pill

From Pennsylvania and Looking for the Abortion Pill? Let’s Talk About Real Options

Some decisions in life come at you fast. One day, you’re making coffee, commuting on the Turnpike, planning the weekend. The next, you’re searching your phone late at night for words like “abortion pill near me,” only to discover your state’s laws don’t make things simple.

If you’re reading this in Pennsylvania and feeling stuck, you’re not alone. Plenty of folks here at CARE Clinic Colorado, in Pueblo, CO, have talked to patients from Philly to Pittsburgh, and smaller towns in between, who’ve shared the same quiet questions:

  • “Is there any place safe where I can go without feeling judged?”
  • “What’s the real story about medication abortion?”
  • “Will I have to travel alone?”

Here’s the short answer: There is a place. And we’re ready to help.

Beyond State Lines: Why People Make the Trip

Let me tell you something I’ve learned from countless conversations: it’s not only about medical care. It’s about being able to breathe.

When Pennsylvania laws feel like they’re closing in, many people decide to travel to Colorado for one simple reason: they want a space where the decision belongs to them, not politicians, not the rumor mill, not the person behind them in line at the store.

At CARE Clinic Colorado, we provide the abortion pill up to 11 weeks of pregnancy, either in-clinic or, when legally allowed, through secure mail services. But that’s not the only thing that matters. Patients tell us the biggest relief comes from how they’re treated here:

  • No moral lectures.
  • No political speeches.
  • Just clear information, genuine kindness, and total privacy.

Is it a long way from Pennsylvania? Sure. But sometimes, crossing a border is the fastest way to reclaim your peace of mind.

The Real Story About the Abortion Pill

Let’s cut through the noise. People hear “abortion pill” and imagine all sorts of things. So here’s what actually happens:

  • You take mifepristone, which blocks pregnancy hormones.
  • Later, you take misoprostol, which causes your body to empty the uterus.

It’s medically safe and over 95% effective when taken correctly. For many, it feels like a very heavy period, cramping, bleeding, sometimes fatigue. For others, it’s milder. Everybody’s body is different.

But here’s the thing: you don’t have to go through it guessing. We explain everything: what’s normal, what’s not, how to manage pain, when to call. Because knowledge is power, and fear shrinks when facts replace rumors.

But… Colorado? Really? Isn’t That Far?

People from Pennsylvania often ask us, half-laughing:

“Am I seriously about to fly to Colorado for this?”

It might sound wild at first. But once you look at a map, it’s surprisingly doable:

  • Direct flights run daily from Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Harrisburg to Denver International Airport.
  • From Denver, Pueblo is a manageable drive, and our team can help you figure out the easiest routes.
  • Some folks choose the road trip instead, wanting privacy and space to think.

Our Focus Isn’t Just Medicine, it’s Humanity

We’ll handle the medical part, of course, that’s what we’re trained to do. But we also believe reproductive health care is human care.

If you’re from Pennsylvania and considering coming to us, here’s what you can expect:

  • Flexible scheduling to work around travel plans.
  • Honest conversations where no question is too awkward.
  • Guidance for when you head home, so you’re not left wondering what comes next
  • A team that’s seen it all and still treats every patient like an individual.

Some days it might feel like there’s nobody in your corner. But we’re here, and we’ll stay right here, however long it takes.

So… What’s Your Next Step?

Maybe you’re still deciding. Maybe you’re scared. Maybe you’re reading this in the middle of the night, wondering if it’s even worth reaching out.

Here’s my promise: if you call us, you’ll get real answers. No judgment. No games. And if you decide the abortion pill is your choice, we’ll help you make it happen safely, even if it means leaving Pennsylvania behind for a little while.

So take a breath. You’ve got options. And we’re here when you’re ready.

Abortion Pill FAQ

Offered up to 11 weeks

When taken in the first trimester, the abortion pill is 94-98% effective.

If you are taking the abortion pill, some minor side effects may set in after taking the second pill. These side effects may include bleeding, cramping, and nausea.

The cramping happens because the second pill causes your uterus to contract, which is the source of these cramping pains. You can treat these cramping pains in the same way you would with your usual menstrual cramps. For bleeding, it can vary from patient to patient. You may also pass clots with the bleeding. This bleeding is normal as long as you don’t use more than two menstrual pads.

Your symptoms should start to subside 24 hours after taking the second pill.

The abortion pill is very safe, with less than 1% of patients having serious complications.

One reason that patients choose the abortion pill is because it is not invasive. In 98% of patients, there is no surgical procedures necessary. We look to avoid surgical procedures by using the abortion pill, as less surgery means less risk.

The abortion pill does come with cramping and bleeding. The bleeding is usually heavier than a regular period, and the cramping can be moderate to heavy. Most patients find this to be tolerable, but if you do not we will be here to help.

Like any medical procedure, there are some risks. However, complications are very rare. These risks include infection, blood loss, and incomplete pregnancy termination. We will monitor you to ensure that you are safe, and in our follow up appointment we’ll check again.

There is no scientific evidence that the abortion pill can be reversed, so you should be 100% sure you want to go through with it before you take the first pill. We will never pressure you into a choice you don’t want to make, we are here to support you and make sure you have all the information you need for an informed choice.

There is a very low chance of this happening, but if it does, we’ll follow up with a surgical abortion to complete the termination of the pregnancy.
