Expert Abortion Care for Patients Traveling from Oklahoma Affected by Fetal Indication

When Your Pregnancy Brings Unexpected News

No one pictures themselves grappling with a diagnosis like fetal indication. Maybe your doctor spotted something on an ultrasound. Maybe a blood test flagged a serious concern. Suddenly, your pregnancy journey feels nothing like what you imagined.

Your head’s spinning with questions. What does this mean? What comes next?

At CARE Clinic Colorado, we understand how shattering this moment can be. We’re here to help you sort through the medical facts, the choices you have, and the feelings that come crashing in alongside the diagnosis.

CARE Clinic Colorado, Where Medicine Meets Compassion

Here’s the honest truth: facing a fetal indication isn’t just a medical situation. It’s a deeply human one.

Our clinic, located in Pueblo, CO, welcomes patients traveling from OK. And whether you’re driving in on I-25 or catching a quick flight into Colorado Springs or Denver, getting to us is often faster than you’d expect.

Sometimes, distance itself can be healing. Many people tell us they appreciate a bit of space, away from familiar faces, opinions, and local pressures. It’s a chance to breathe.

What Does “Fetal Indication” Mean, Anyway?

Let’s keep it real: medical terms can feel cold, especially during such a personal crisis.

Fetal indication is a broad term. It might mean severe structural issues found on an ultrasound. Or a genetic condition discovered through screening. Some diagnoses come with devastating certainty; others linger in a fog of “we just don’t know.”

Patients we’ve cared for have faced diagnoses like anencephaly, trisomy 13 or 18, and critical organ abnormalities. These conditions often carry significant risks, either for the baby’s survival or for profound, lifelong challenges.

If you’re confronting a fetal indication, know that you deserve medical care that’s precise, and people who truly listen to your heartache and your hopes.

Your Abortion Options, Tailored for Fetal Indication

Not every facility offers a full range of abortion services equipped to handle fetal indication cases. At CARE Clinic Colorado we do, because you deserve safe choices that reflect both your medical and emotional needs.

Here’s what we provide:

Abortion Pill (Medical Abortion) – Up to 11.6 Weeks

This option lets you manage the process at home, if you’d prefer privacy and comfort. For some, it’s a way to stay surrounded by familiar faces. For others, in-clinic care feels more secure. We support either path, and can ship the medication when medically appropriate.

Vacuum Aspiration – Up to 18.6 Weeks

A quick, gentle procedure performed in our clinic. Many patients appreciate how swift it can be, often under 15 minutes, and the relief of having support right there.

Surgical Abortion – After 18.6 Weeks

For pregnancies further along or complex fetal indications, surgical abortion may be the safest route. Our skilled team performs these procedures with advanced techniques to maximize safety and minimize discomfort.

And let’s be clear: no question is too small. We’re here to explain the details in everyday language, so you feel empowered to make your own decisions.

Abortion Pill FAQ

Offered up to 11 weeks

When taken in the first trimester, the abortion pill is 94-98% effective.

If you are taking the abortion pill, some minor side effects may set in after taking the second pill. These side effects may include bleeding, cramping, and nausea.

The cramping happens because the second pill causes your uterus to contract, which is the source of these cramping pains. You can treat these cramping pains in the same way you would with your usual menstrual cramps. For bleeding, it can vary from patient to patient. You may also pass clots with the bleeding. This bleeding is normal as long as you don’t use more than two menstrual pads.

Your symptoms should start to subside 24 hours after taking the second pill.

The abortion pill is very safe, with less than 1% of patients having serious complications.

One reason that patients choose the abortion pill is because it is not invasive. In 98% of patients, there is no surgical procedures necessary. We look to avoid surgical procedures by using the abortion pill, as less surgery means less risk.

The abortion pill does come with cramping and bleeding. The bleeding is usually heavier than a regular period, and the cramping can be moderate to heavy. Most patients find this to be tolerable, but if you do not we will be here to help.

Like any medical procedure, there are some risks. However, complications are very rare. These risks include infection, blood loss, and incomplete pregnancy termination. We will monitor you to ensure that you are safe, and in our follow up appointment we’ll check again.

There is no scientific evidence that the abortion pill can be reversed, so you should be 100% sure you want to go through with it before you take the first pill. We will never pressure you into a choice you don’t want to make, we are here to support you and make sure you have all the information you need for an informed choice.

There is a very low chance of this happening, but if it does, we’ll follow up with a surgical abortion to complete the termination of the pregnancy.

Surgical Abortions Information

Offered after 18.6 weeks

Surgical abortions have a very low rate of complications. However, they are a surgery and use anesthesia. As with any surgery or procedure that uses anesthesia, there is always a risk of complications like bleeding or infection. These risks are why we perform blood work and have you visit beforehand so that we catch anything that might increase the chance of complications.

This depends on your individual health. For some higher risk patients, you will receive IV sedation (Twilight Sedation). For lower risk patients, you will receive local anesthesia, sometimes combined with a mild sedative.

There is no scientific evidence that states having a surgical abortion will affect your ability to get pregnant in the future.

We highly recommend having a follow up appointment a few weeks later, which your doctor will schedule with you. This appointment serves as a check-in. We will make sure that you are healthy and without complications, as well as ensure that the pregnancy has been terminated.

Vacuum Aspiration Information

Offered up to 18.6 weeks

Vacuum aspiration has a success rate of 99-100%

Vacuum aspiration is very safe, with a complication rate of less than 1%.

Vacuum aspirations are performed up to 18.6 weeks after your last regular period in CO. This is when they are safest and most effective.

Vacuum aspirations are performed up to 18.6 weeks in CO after your last regular period. This is when they are safest and most effective.

You will likely experience cramping during the procedure, which is a short procedure. Once it’s over, your cramping will likely subside. Some patients report off and on cramping in the next few days, but most do not.

The procedure itself is quick, lasting only up to 5 minutes. Afterward, we’ll need you to spend about 30 minutes in the recovery room to monitor you before you’re welcome to leave.
