Compassionate Abortion Care for Pregnancies with Fetal Anomaly in Colorado

Sometimes life hands us news we never imagined hearing. If you’re facing a pregnancy with a fetal anomaly, your mind might be swirling with questions, worries, or simply raw heartbreak.

You’re not alone. At CARE Clinic Colorado, we’re right here in Pueblo, serving patients throughout the state with empathy, expert medical care, and a space where you can breathe and consider your options without judgment or pressure.

Understanding Fetal Anomaly: A Complex Reality

Here’s the thing: the term fetal anomaly covers a huge spectrum of conditions that might show up on an ultrasound or genetic screening. Maybe it’s something treatable after birth, or maybe it’s a condition incompatible with life.

Hearing those words can feel like the floor dropped out from under you. You might be grappling with grief, confusion, or even anger. It’s human to hope for the best and still brace for the hardest conversations.

And you know what? Every decision that follows is deeply personal, layered with love, ethics, and medical realities. No one walks this path lightly.

Your Choices at CARE Clinic Colorado

If you decide that ending the pregnancy is the best option for you, CARE Clinic Colorado offers safe, professional abortion care for pregnancies affected by fetal anomaly.

Let’s go through the options we provide, depending on how far along your pregnancy is:

Abortion Pill (Medical Abortion)

Up to 11.6 weeks gestation, you can take medication to complete the process safely at home. We offer this both in clinic and by mail, which is sometimes a relief for folks who’d rather manage things privately in their own space.

Vacuum Aspiration (In-Clinic Procedure)

Between about 11.6 and 18.6 weeks, vacuum aspiration is a gentle, in-clinic procedure performed under local anesthesia. The appointment is typically quick, with minimal recovery time, although everyone’s body responds a little differently.

Surgical Abortion (D&E)

Beyond 18.6 weeks, we provide surgical abortion services right here in CO. This procedure may sound intimidating, but our specialized medical team ensures comfort and safety every step of the way. And yes, patients often tell us they felt surprisingly calm once they arrived and spoke to our staff.

Are there tough conversations involved? Absolutely. But you deserve clear facts, gentle guidance, and compassionate support while you navigate a pregnancy complicated by a fetal anomaly.

Located Right Here in Colorado for Easy Travel, Less Stress

Let’s talk about something practical for a second. Traveling out of state for care adds extra layers of stress and cost, like hotel stays, unfamiliar roads, and, sometimes, fear of legal confusion.

That’s why our patients appreciate that CARE Clinic Colorado is firmly planted in Pueblo, Colorado. We’re reachable by car from most parts of the state, including Denver, Colorado Springs, and smaller communities that might not have local abortion providers.

When you’re dealing with a pregnancy complicated by a fetal anomaly, the last thing you need is a long journey across state lines. Staying in CO keeps things simpler, legally protected, and more private.

Why CARE Clinic Colorado?

Plenty of places can provide a medical service. But not every clinic understands how much compassion matters when you’re carrying a pregnancy with a fetal anomaly diagnosis.

Our team of physicians, nurses, and counselors has specialized training in reproductive health and, just as crucially, in trauma-informed care. Patients often share that they felt genuinely cared for here, not rushed or judged.

And let’s be honest: the logistics alone can feel overwhelming. Many people worry about how many appointments they’ll need, what it costs, or whether anyone will “find out.” At CARE Clinic Colorado, we walk you through each step, respect your privacy, and keep all medical information strictly confidential.

Here’s the part folks sometimes underestimate: you deserve a space where medical expertise and kindness live side by side. That’s what we’re here for.

Moving Forward with Gentle Support

A fetal anomaly diagnosis is a moment no one wants to face. If you’re considering abortion, CARE Clinic Colorado offers professional, respectful care that’s close to home.

Your story matters. Your comfort matters. And whatever choice you make, you deserve care that honors your dignity and protects your health.

If you’d like to talk through your options, or even just ask a few questions, we’re here to listen. Contact CARE Clinic Colorado today, and know you don’t have to navigate this alone.

Abortion Pill FAQ

Offered up to 11.6 weeks

When taken in the first trimester, the abortion pill is 94-98% effective.

If you are taking the abortion pill, some minor side effects may set in after taking the second pill. These side effects may include bleeding, cramping, and nausea.

The cramping happens because the second pill causes your uterus to contract, which is the source of these cramping pains. You can treat these cramping pains in the same way you would with your usual menstrual cramps. For bleeding, it can vary from patient to patient. You may also pass clots with the bleeding. This bleeding is normal as long as you don’t use more than two menstrual pads.

Your symptoms should start to subside 24 hours after taking the second pill.

The abortion pill is very safe, with less than 1% of patients having serious complications.

One reason that patients choose the abortion pill is because it is not invasive. In 98% of patients, there is no surgical procedures necessary. We look to avoid surgical procedures by using the abortion pill, as less surgery means less risk.

The abortion pill does come with cramping and bleeding. The bleeding is usually heavier than a regular period, and the cramping can be moderate to heavy. Most patients find this to be tolerable, but if you do not we will be here to help.

Like any medical procedure, there are some risks. However, complications are very rare. These risks include infection, blood loss, and incomplete pregnancy termination. We will monitor you to ensure that you are safe, and in our follow up appointment we’ll check again.

There is no scientific evidence that the abortion pill can be reversed, so you should be 100% sure you want to go through with it before you take the first pill. We will never pressure you into a choice you don’t want to make, we are here to support you and make sure you have all the information you need for an informed choice.

There is a very low chance of this happening, but if it does, we’ll follow up with a surgical abortion to complete the termination of the pregnancy.
